06/06/2010 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Brian Bannister will try to continue his recent winning ways when he takes the hill this afternoon for the Kansas City Royals in the finale of a three-game set with the Detroit Tigers at Kauffman Stadium.
After a slow start to the season, Bannister has reeled off four consecutive wins, including a 6-3 decision over the Angels in his last outing. In Tuesday's victory over Anaheim, the right-hander surrendered three runs in 5 1/3 innings of work.
It was the fourth home win on the year for Bannister, who has posted a 3.65 earned run average in six starts at Kauffman Stadium.
Earlier this season the veteran twirler held the Tigers to just two runs in 6 1/3 innings, but he did not factor in the decision. In eight career matchups against Detroit, Bannister has been rather impressive, posting a 4-2 mark with an equally-strong 2.12 ERA.
Jeremy Bonderman will look to counter Bannister this afternoon when he toes the rubber for Detroit. The right-hander has just two victories in his last nine starts and has been inconsistent since the beginning of the season.
The last time Bonderman was on the hill he took a hard-luck setback against Cleveland on Tuesday. In the 3-2 loss to the Tribe, the veteran hurler allowed all three runs but lasted eight innings, while scattering nine hits.
Bonderman has made 23 career appearances against Kansas City, 18 of which have been starts. However, he has had mixed success against the divisional foe, racking up a 9-6 mark with a 4.11 earned run average.
Yesterday, Justin Verlander pitched into the eighth inning and Carlos Guillen hit a two-run double in the top half of the eighth that scored the eventual deciding run as the Tigers held on for a 4-2 win against Kansas City.
Verlander (6-4) yielded five hits, but two came to start the bottom of the eighth, after which he was lifted while still working on a shutout, and both runners came around to score. Still, the hard-throwing righty walked three and fanned four to halt a two-start skid.
Miguel Cabrera hit a solo home run, had two hits and scored twice for Detroit, which fell victim to a 13-hit attack by the Royals in a 7-3 loss in Friday's opener to this three-game set. The Tigers have won three of their last four overall.
Royals starter Luke Hochevar (5-4) struck out a season-high 10 batters in seven innings, walking two and giving up just a run on six hits in a tough defeat. Blake Wood took over in the eighth and gave up three runs on three hits to break open what was a 1-0 game.
Jose Guillen and Alberto Callaspo collected an RBI apiece in the Royals' sixth loss in eight games.
Cabrera launched his 17th home run of the year off the left-field foul pole with two outs in the sixth to serve as the game's lone run through seven innings.
Detroit won two of three games from the Royals at Kauffman Stadium from April 5-8, with the teams having split eight overall meetings so far this season.

Matt Kenseth And Kevin Harvick Favorites To Take NASCAR Nextel Cup Championship
(September 15)—The NASCAR season has hit the homestretch with the opening event on this year’s Chase for the Cup taking place this weekend at the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway. With 10 races remaining to determine the Cup Series champion, leading online sportsbook MySportsbook.com today announced odds on all 10 Chase qualifying drivers capturing the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship.
One of the largest sportsbook sites on the Internet, MySportsbook.com currently lists the top two drivers in the point standings as the early favorites to win the Nextel Cup. Entering the Chase for the Cup with a slim five-point lead in the point standings, 2003 NASCAR champ Matt Kenseth has been made a slight favorite to win his second Cup at 7/2 betting odds. 2001 Cup Rookie of the Year Kevin Harvick has betting odds listed at 5/2 and four-time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon is listed at 6/1 to capture the Nextel Cup this year.
Hoping to follow in the footsteps of his legendary father who won six NASCAR titles, Dale Earnhardt Jr. stands at 8/1 to breakthrough with his first Cup victory. Staying with the family theme, MySportsbook.com lists 2005 Rookie of the Year Kyle Busch at 14/1 to succeed big brother Kurt’s 2004 NASCAR title. While Kasey Kahne was the final driver to qualify for the Chase with a third place finish last week, the oddsmakers give him a fighting chance at 10/1 mainly due to several mile-and-a-half tracks remaining on the schedule. Despite going winless on the NASCAR circuit this season, Jeff Burton enters the Chase at 5/1 to capture the Cup title. Meanwhile, rookie Denny Hamlin is 4/1 to win the championship, while veteran driver Mark Martin enters the Chase for the Cup as a 15/1 long shot to win his first NASCAR title in his 24th and final season.
MySportsbook.com will offer comprehensive Nascar betting lines on every race remaining on the Nextel Cup series including driver match-ups, props and odds to win each race. For a complete list of NASCAR odds, please visit www.MySportsbook.com.

Mens NCAA Basketball Tournament odds
As of February 9, MySportsbook.com has released its coveted 2007 Mens NCAA Basketball Tournament betting odds. “March Madness betting ” only a month away, the top ranked Florida Gators are favorite at 7-2 to win it all. The defending champs have not disappointed at all this season and currently have a 22-2 record and are undefeated (9-0) in SEC play. The Gators’ thrive off of their extremely balanced, experienced and versatile attack. All five starters started in last seasons National Championship game. What is most impressive with this group is their balance; the five starters all average between 10.7 and 13.6 PPG. The Gators have been on an absolute roll having won 15 straight by an average of 16.4 PPG.
Right behind the Gators are the 5th ranked UNC Tar Heels at 9-2. The Heels (21-3, 7-2) are absolutely loaded with top notch talent and are as deep as any team in the country. A concern for the Tar Heels might be inexperience. Of their top four scorers/ minute earners, three are freshmen and the other is a sophomore. The rest of the regular season, the Tar Heels play only one team that is currently ranked (Duke). Their remaining opponents do combine for an impressive 107-58 record though.
Other teams that the MySportsbook.com members seem to believe will win it all include the west coasts’ top team #2 UCLA (6-1), #3 OSU behind man-child Greg Oden (8-1), and #4 Wisconsin (10-1) behind their defense which has given up 70+ points only three times all season.
Below is a list of some of the favorites to win the 2007 Men’s NCAA Basketball Championship lines. For the full list of teams and March Madness odds be sure to log onto MySportsbook.com.
