07/24/2010 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Florida Marlins try to go above .500 for the first time since early June this evening when they continue their three-game set with the Atlanta Braves at Sun Life Stadium.
Florida won in dramatic fashion on Friday, as Donnie Murphy hit the game- winning pinch-hit single in the ninth to cap a wild back-and-forth 7-6 victory.
Billy Wagner (5-1) was called on to protect a 6-5 lead and loaded the bases with one out in the ninth. He recovered to get Dan Uggla swinging at a pitch in the dirt but a passed ball allowed Emilio Bonifacio to score the tying run with Murphy at the plate pinch-hitting.
Murphy then lined a single into center field for his second walk-off hit in five days after slamming a pinch-hit two-run homer against the Rockies on Monday.
"Instead of the home run the other day (where) I didn't know if it was going to go far enough, this one I saw it go past him and I knew it was a base hit right away," said Murphy. "Right out of the box, I was pumped."
Wagner, who blew Wednesday's loss to San Diego, has now blown two straight save opportunities for the first time since June 11-12, 2008.
"It's not very hard to figure out when you suck like I do. Everything I did went wrong," said Wagner.
Uggla hit a two-run homer, doubled and scored twice for Florida, which won for the sixth time in seven games. Gaby Sanchez drilled a go-ahead solo home run in the seventh before Jose Veras (2-0) blew the save chance in the top of the ninth with closer Leo Nunez unavailable.
Brian McCann had two-game tying hits -- a three-run homer in the seventh and a single in the ninth that scored Martin Prado, who added a solo home run and was 3-for-5 as Atlanta opened a nine-game road trip on a losing note.
Heading to the hill for the Braves this evening will be righty Kris Medlen, who will be making his first start since beating the Philadelphia Phillies on July 7. Medlen has been used four times out of the bullpen since then, as the Braves try to limit his innings to use him for the stretch run.
Medlen, who is 0-1 in nine games (one start) against the Marlins, has won his last five decisions as a starter and is 6-2 on the season with a 3.31 ERA.
Florida, meanwhile, will counter with righty Anibal Sanchez, who is 7-6 with a 3.62 ERA. Sanchez did not get a decision on Monday against Colorado, but pitched well, surrendering two earned runs and eight hits in six innings of his team's 9-8 win. However, he is winless in his last four starts (0-2) and hasn't beat a National League team since topping Philadelphia back on May 30.
Sanchez lost to the Braves the last time he faced them, but is 4-6 lifetime against them with a 4.65 ERA in 11 starts.
Atlanta has won four of its seven matchups with the Marlins this season.

MySportsbook.com Posts Heisman Trophy Odds
With 3,919 passing yards, 32 touchdowns and a mere seven interceptions last season, combined with a powerful South Bend Heisman legacy, odds makers at MySportsbook.com have given Notre Dame senior quarterback Brady Quinn the best Heisman Trophy odds at 5-2.
Quinn isn’t the only big man on campus this season. Oklahoma junior running back and 2004 Heisman runner-up Adrian Peterson, listed at 7-2, rushed for a combined 3,033 yards in his first two years as a college player and will give Quinn a run for his money.
This online sportsbook has also listed Troy Smith, Ohio State senior quarterback, as another strong favorite to win the 72nd Heisman Trophy. A 7-1 bet, Smith threw for 2,282 yards last season and also led the Buckeyes to a convincing 34-20 victory over Quinn and the Fighting Irish in last season’s Fiesta Bowl.
Current betting odds Heisman trophy are:
