Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Pirates activated outfielder Ryan Ludwick off the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday. He had been on the DL since August 24, retroactively to August 23, with muscle spasms in his mid-back. Acquired from San Diego at the non-waiver trade deadline on July 31, he was batting .262 with a home run and seven RBI over 21 games with the Pirates prior to his stint on the DL.

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jose Tabata has a small fracture in his left wrist. Tabata had tests performed on Tuesday and was diagnosed with a small avulsion fracture on the dorsal side of the fourth metacarpal of his left hand, according to MLB.com. He will rest and receive treatment for 10 days to allow the bone to heal, the website said. The Venezuela native batted .266 with four home runs, 21 RBI and 53 runs scored in 91 games for the Pirates this season.
